Former deputy DM detained on charges of corruption
Aug. 20, Ukraine military prosecutors opened a criminal case against the former deputy defense minister in the Tymoshenko cabinet,Valery Ivashchenko, accusing him of abusing power and inflicting over $2 million in damages to the state, the general prosecutor’s office Aug. 23 website release runs.While in office, prosecutors say, the official illegally signed documents allowing the sale of a shipyard in Feodosia, Crimea.
Aug. 24, Ivashchenko was detained by prosecutors.
