Kharkiv journalist may have disappeared due to his professional activities, interior minister says
Interior Minister Anatoly Mohiliov has assumed that the chief editor of a Kharkiv newspaper may have been hit by the persons he criticized in his articles, LIGABiznesInform reports Aug. 25.“This morning my deputy returned from Kharkiv with some case materials. The whole accident causes my grave concern, frankly speaking,” the minister went on.
The police studied the recent publications by Klementiev showing that he was an ardent critic of influential persons in Kharkiv. One may assume with a high degree of probability that the journalist had suffered due to his professional activities, Mohiliov said.
The investigation is monitored by me, and I report on its course to the president.
Still, it is early to say that the journalist was murdered. There exist several versions of the journalist’s disappearance, and the police are examining them, the minister added.
