Lviv oblast council head to get new posh official car

According to proUA, contrary to the assurances from Premier Mykola Azarov, in late July-early August several local and central executive bodies have bought official cars costing from UAH300 thousand to UAH500 thousand.

For instance, the Kharkivoblenerho purchased a VW Multivan at $62,000, while South-West Railways (Kyiv) added 2 Toyota Camrys 2.4 at $40,000 apiece to its fleet of vehicles.

The state-run Enerhorynok purchased an Audi A6 Limousine Quattro at $71,000, whereas the Donetsk Railways bought a RX 350 Luxury jeep at $81,500. In early July, the Sverdlovsk city council, (Luhansk oblast) bought 3 cars costing $281,000.

Meanwhile, on July 20 Premier Azarov beat his breast pledging to cut funding for executive bodies.

“As regards cars, we are considering cutting the fleet of ministries’ vehicles. We agree that ministers and deputy ministers must have cars. At the moment, the cabinet is not discussing the purchase of new cars – on the contrary, we want to cut the fleet of official cars in ministries and other structures,” Azarov assured.
