Ukraine not to join Russia-dominated collective security pact
Joining the Treaty for Collective Security Organization is not on Ukraine’s agenda, FM spokesperson Oleksandr Dykusarov told journalists July 27.“The president and cabinet are not considering joining the TCSO,” the spokesperson said.
Pursuant to the law on domestic and foreign policy, he explained, Ukraine is a non-aligned country, and in its policies the FM will adhere to the country’s neutrality. “The law bans Ukraine to join military and political organizations, and we will stick to its provisions,” Dykusarov added.
Speaking at the July 14 international conference TCSO: New Format of Collective Security for Ukraine, ex-Defence Minister Kuzmuk opted for political cooperation of Ukraine and TSCO and joining its anti-aircraft defense system.
TSCO includes Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kirghizstan, Armenia, Tadgikistan and Uzbekistan, Ukrayinska Pravda reports.
