Cabinet meets another IMF demand to cancel privileges for mining and steel sector
The Ukrainian cabinet cancelled benefits in Q3 for steel and mining industries (lower rates for cargo shipments and cheaper fuel), deputy minister for industrial policy Serhy Bilenky told in Dnipropetrovsk July 14, speaking to businessmen. The measure, he said, is due to the cash-strapped budget and difficulties in those sectors of the economy at whose cost the steel/mining sector received its benefits, the official said.
By canceling benefits for the steel/mining sector the cabinet met one of the IMF demands for releasing a credit to Ukraine. A sector of industry cannot receive benefits at the expense of other sectors, the IMF said.
