Tymoshenko and ex- and present fuel ministers called in for questioning by VR investigators

Rada’s ad hoc commission to investigate RosUkrEnergo’s $4.5 bln claim to Ukraine has summoned former Premier Yulia Tymoshenko and former and present fuel ministers, Prodan and Boyko, as well as members of RosUkrEnergo board of directors to answer the commission’s questions on July 12, commission deputy head Roman Zvarych, NUNS announced.

“We have summoned these ex- and present officials to give us information about the lawsuit by RosUkrEnergo against Naftohaz. We have also requested Naftohaz and fuel ministry to provide copies of NH contracts with middleman RosUkrEnergo as of 2006 as well as a copy of the Stockholm arbitration court ruling obliging Ukraine to repay $4.5 bln for gas confiscated in 2009 by the then Premier Yulia Tymoshenko.

Yulia Tymoshenko had earlier rejected the accusations of unlawful confiscation, saying the gas was Ukraine’s property.

Zvarych said the commission will contact the state execution service to know if the warrant of execution has been sent by the court in Stockholm and whether the cabinet has taken a decision to enforce the warrant.

Prosecutor General Medvedko and SBU director Khoroshkovsky have been also summoned by the commission but they didn’t show up, Zvarych said.

To recall, the Stockholm arbitration court ruled June 8 to support the charge by RosUkrEnergo, co-owned by Dmytro Firtash and state-run NH, that 11 bln cu m of privately-owned gas was expropriated by the cabinet.

D. Firtash claimes back his gas and 1.1 bln cu m as penalties for breaching the contract.
