Regions VP Sivkovych accused of assisting illegal seizure of land, property
Vice Premier Volodymyr Sivkovych was accused by Regions lawmaker Volodymyr Yaroshchuk of throwing his weight behind illegal seizure of land. Yaroshchuk publicized his accusations in parliament June 18.“I have information confirming the VP for law-enforcement agencies, Volodymyr Sivkovych, involvement in deeds smearing the high status of an official. Sivkovych has been involved in meddling with the work of courts and law-enforcement agencies by using threats and coercion to seize state property,” the lawmaker said.
As head of commission to fight unlawful seizure of property, Sivkovych used his position for exactly contrary purposes, he explained.
“He promoted illegal seizures, instructed crooks to start illegal operations against businesses, and widely resorted to coercing judges by telephone to obtain desired rulings,” Yaroshchuk went on.
One of the illegal deals assisted by Sivkovych and head of State Land Committee Kulinich was the illegal seizure of 220 hectares of state land on the Muromets island, Ukrayinska Pravda reports.
“In line with instructions from Sivkovych and Kulinich, the Brovary (near Kyiv) rayon administration allowed to allocate land sites for personal farming to 110 persons in Feb. 2010, transferring the sites to unidentified persons in March,” the lawmaker stressed.
Eventually, the land became controlled by highly-placed officials.
The island, Yaroshchuk reminded, is under the authority of Kyiv, not the Brovary rayon administration.
