Yanukovych offers Yatseniuk high-ranking post in future cabinet. Yatseniuk turns offer down, joins opposition

A release on Yanukovych’s web site runs: “I appreciate it that Arseny Yatseniuk, despite being my rival in the presidential race, realizes that consolidation of political forces, both the power and the opposition, is a topmost priority in fighting the recession,” the incumbent says. 
 “I respect those politicians who put the state interests above their personal ones. I offered a high post in the future government to Arseny Yatseniuk. However, he turned down my offer, saying he will join the opposition. I hope, it will be a constructive, not destructive, opposition which will not ruin the country,” Yanukovych went on.
From his open letter, Yanukovych went on, I realized that Yatsenuik opts for snap parliamentary elections. This is something I will not agree to. I am faced with the major challenge of fighting the recession and raising the living standards of Ukrainians. To attain this goal, all branches of power should work jointly and quickly, Yanukovych continued.
Snap elections is a huge waste of time and money. Ukraine cannot afford this now, Yanukovych argued.
Earlier, A. Yatseniuk sent an open letter to Yanukovych proposing to form a temporary coalition to prepare for pre-term parliamentary elections.
