Chief Communist to apologize for slandering Roman Shukhevych, judge rules

The Kyiv court upheld the appeal by UPA Commander Roman Shukhevych children against Petro Symonenko, Moisei Fishbein says in an article in his blog March 9, UNIAN reports.

On Jan. 14, the Pechersk rayon court in Kyiv supported an appeal against Communist party leader Petro Symonenko filed by the children of Roman Shukhevych regarding the slanderous information disseminated by Symonenko about the alleged award by Hitler of two Iron Crosses to Shukhevych. Symonenko publicly told this lie in Verkhovna Rada back in 2007.
In the course of court hearings, Symonenko failed to provide the evidence of the awards.
The court ordered Symonenko to retract his 3-year-old lie during his first public appearance in Verkhovna Rada after the court ruling comes into force.
