Yatseniuk writes open letter to Yanukovych
In his letter, Arseny Yatseniuk has proposed to create a temporary parliamentary coalition to prepare for pre-term parliamentary elections, UNIAN reports late March 7.Unconstitutional attempts by the Regions and other factions to set up a ruling majority and elect a new cabinet will lead to a deepening political and state crisis, Yatseniuk says.
There are two ways-out: either to form a ruling coalition based on factions or declare snap parliamentary elections. There is no third option, Yatseniuk warns.
“There is no doubt that the present legislature will lack the political will to implement systemic economic reforms. Therefore, pre-term elections will open the way to economic stabilization and growth,” Yatseniuk believes.
“Based on the principle of political responsibility, declaring snap parliamentary elections and legitimate creation of a temporary coalition for the period of 60 days can be a way out of the deadlock,” the lawmaker continues.
“Such scenario implies the formation of a caretaker cabinet to be appointed by you. My faction [NUNS] should support this decision, however, without assuming responsibility for the actions of the caretaker cabinet and not taking any ministerial positions in this cabinet,” Yatseniuk says.
Arseny Yatseniuk also congratulated Yanukovych on being elected to the highest office. “You get the chance to change the face of Ukraine. We have a major challenge – how to make Ukraine unified. In the current Ukraine history there has not been a single public attempt to reach this goal. That is why this goal must be the top of your agenda,” the letter runs.
