NUNS gives ultimatum to Tymoshenko and Regions
The NUNS faction is ready to start coalition talks with Regions, its leader Mykola Martynenko told UNIAN March 1.The decision to enter the talks with Regions was made by 37 NUNS lawmakers, or the majority, Martynanko confirmed.
NUNS has also suggested that Premier Tymoshenko resign. NUNS also wants to nominate their candidate for premier to take over from Tymoshenko.
Failing this, NUNS warns, it will start coalition talks with the Regions.
In its talks with the Regions, NUNS will insist on nominating its member for premier and on pushing ahead with NUNS ideological agenda (the status of Russian, Black Sea fleet, and gas-pumping network).
Important, Martynenko went on, that Regions should be ready to carry out austerity measures to save Ukraine’s economy.
He said that the coalition talks with the Regions will be open. “We won’t be engaged in backroom deals, like we did in the summer of 2009.”
Martynenko stressed that there were 37 lawmakers at the crucial meeting of NUNS, the majority needed to make decisions.
He also stressed that BYT wants to drive a wedge between NUNS numerous groups.
As for the candidate for premier, Martynenko said the candidate must have the support of 60 NUNS lawmakers. Asked if the person is a NUNS member, Martynenko said NUNS will propose its member for premier.
