Patched up tablecloths will become common thing, Azarov says about his austerity measures program for officials
Mykola Azarov (Regions), one of the likely candidates for premier, opts for a severe austerity program to cut budget spending on state officials, Bizness reports March 1. “Once on a trip to Japan, I noticed patched up tablecloths in the official hall for foreign delegations. Definitely, we must pay out pensions and salaries to officials, but we have to save on all other expenses, ranging from cars to trips abroad,” Azarov said.
Azarov believes he could consolidate the budget within 2 months.
Bizness reminds its readers that during Azarov’s term in office as vice-premier the number of officials grew by 50 thousand.
Victor Yanukovych has already pledged to cut the number of officials in his administration by 20 percent
