Liovochkin to head Yanukovych office

Serhy Liovochkin was appointed Viktor Yanukovych’s chief of staff, deputy head of Regions Anna Herman told Interfax-Ukrayina Feb. 25.

By his second decree, Yanukovych renamed the Presidential Secretariat into the Administration of the Head of State.
The renaming was done, the decree runs, to enable the new president to effectively carry out his duties, speed up the implementation of social and economic programs and cut budgetary expenditure. [As some of Yushchenko office lower rank employees refused to resign, Regions apparently want to get rid of them by renaming the office – Ed.]
According to Herman, the decree is also aimed at personnel downsizing and cutting salaries of presidential office employees.
Lawmaker Iryna Akimova was appointed deputy head of Yanukovych office, while Anna Herman has become Liovochkin’s deputy for domestic policy and communications.
Stanislav Skubashevsky has become first deputy head of Yanukovych office.
