Lytvyn puts all his eggs in Yanukovych basket: Leonid Kravchuk
Leonid Kravchuk says the Regions won’t be able to form a viable coalition in the existing Rada, UNIAN reports Feb. 23.“There is no chance for Regions to form a new coalition in Verhovna Rada. You can’t interbreed a grass-snake with a hedgehog. You may get a barbed wire as a result,” Kravchuk said.
Even if a coalition of NUNS, Communists, Regions and Lytvyn bloc is formed, it will unravel after the first crucial vote, Kravchuk opined.
Regions’ declaration that the coalition is in the making are flagrant lies, Kravchuk added.
Kravchuk bashed Lytvyn for frequent jumping on the winner’s bandwagon. “Lytvyn sided with Tymoshenko and became speaker. When he saw that the premier’s chair was beginning to sway under her, he put all his eggs in a basket of Yanukovych, waiting for them to hatch,” Kravchuk sneered.
Kravchuk sees 2 way-outs out of the present dead-end. The first is snap parliamentary elections. However, he warned, without changing the present election laws, the same old-timers will get to parliament.
The other way-out is for Regions to strike a deal with Tymoshenko to continue as premier. Although it seems unrealistic, everything is possible in politics, he summed up.
