Medvedev wary of coming to Yanukovych inauguration
Russia Pres Medvedev has plans to come to Kyiv for the inauguration of Viktor Yanukovych but he fears that the inauguration ceremony might be disrupted by Tymoshenko supporters, UNIAN quotes its source as saying Feb. 18.“If there is a risk of disruption, the Medvedev visit may be cancelled,” the source indicated.
The source also added the visit by Viktor Yanukovych to Moscow is being discussed by Russian and Ukrainian diplomats.
Feb. 16, Verkhovna Rada passed a decision to hold the inauguration Feb. 25.
The same day, Yulia TYmoshenko filed a lawsuit with the Higher Arbitration Court against the decision by the Central Election Commission declaring Yanukovych winner.
Feb. 17, HAC suspended CEC decision to declare Viktor Yanukovych winner.
Meanwhile, Tymoshenko has tabled a motion in VR to cancel the inauguration date.
