HAC has 2 days to consider Tymoshenko appeal against CEC
The Higher Administrative Court has 2 days to pass its ruling on Yulia Tymoshenko’s suit protesting the inaction of the Central Election Commission, Mykhailo Okhendovsky, the Regions CEC member told journalists Feb. 17.CEC head Volodymyr Shapoval will appoint CEC members to represent its interests in court, he said.
However, CEC deputy head Andry Mahera said in his Feb. 17 press-conference that the final deadline for HAC is Feb. 21.
Mahera also noted that the date of Viktor Yanukovych’s inauguration [Feb. 25] cannot be postponed because of HAC considering the Tymoshenko protest.
As HAC is to come up with its ruling by Feb. 21, the inauguration will go on as planned, he added.
Mahera dismissed rumors that he will represent CEC in HAC, saying he had acted as CEC defendant in 2004 and 2006.
