Yushchenko did his homework well to transfer power to Yanukovych, expert says

Pres Viktor Yushchenko succeeded in implementing his scenario of handing power over to Viktor Yanukovych, removing his rivals and throwing spanners in the work of the Tymoshenko cabinet to rock the boat, UNIAN quotes Olexy Holobutsky, deputy head of the Agency for Modeling Situations as saying Feb. 16. Holobutsky was commenting on rumors of Yushchenko’s likely appointment as Verkhovna Rada speaker.

“Looking back, we can be certain about the existence of a plan to transfer power to Yanukovych. The plan was implemented at ideological, organizational and even institutional levels. As part of the plan we witnessed new appointments in the local executive and courts. Yushchenko engaged in permanent smear campaign against the premier. Even awarding Stepan Bandera the top Ukraine medal was aimed at driving a wedge between Eastern and Western Ukrainians. Actually, Yushchenko fathered the victory of Yanukovych, same as Kuchma had done for Yushchenko,” the expert believes.
This kind of transfer of power poses serious challenges for Yanukovych to confirm his legitimacy and status of the nation’s leader.
Yushchenko is also handing over to his successor the negative ideological millstones he had amassed over the past 5 years.
Simultaneously, Yanukovych’s involvement with Yushchenko who lost popularity and trust may become a big impediment for the new president, Holobutsky says.

    • There has been flood articles like this:
***Tymoshenko’s defiance risks losing her friends in Europe*****????
It's a GREAT SHAME that West leaders rushed to "congratulate" convinced criminal, the man with no education, the man who was found guilty of rigging previous elections before official annonsement.
I don't recall anybody "congratulating" Mr. Obama or any other President in such fashion. Then again these elections were rigged and yet every reporter keeps printing out articles how "honest" they were, and how Tymoshenko "clings" to power.
Everybody agreed on attacking her each way possible - wouldn't it make sence to slow a bit and hear out what she has to say (prove)?
The West doesn't want strong Ukraine. All those leaders who were in such hurry to "congratulate" a man who is a convict (which is at least unethical of them), they represent countries where even to have a shade of candidate like this for any high post would have been mind bogging, where to have elections where "voices" of dead people, children, senile people were used to fix the numbers, the very election law was changed on the eve before Elections, people from out of Ukraine were brought in to "vote"... well, Ms.Tymoshenko has boxes of evidence, why don't you all hear her out first, isn't what civilized world does? What's all this rush to welcome a criminal on behave of Ukraine? Would you all wanted him in your countries? The man is not a President yet, and he is already giving away Ukraine to Kremlin, starting with Ukrainian pipes. West leaders must think ruther than to hold hard bargains with Tymoshenko and consider Ukraininan nation and it's interests, they'd get nice discounts from Kremlin once they please it with handing over Ukraine to become a part of Russia. Well, after Kremlin would have gotten only more pipes to turn off and on to raise prices, they (west leaders) will be "dissapointed", but where will Ukraine be by then?
      Anybody thinks about that?
    • You give too much credit04:17 17.02.10
    • By stating that Yushchenko planned the handover gives way too much credit to a man who was a incompetent and complete disaster for Ukraine.

Yushchenko just followed orders and the planning was made for him.

Whilst the focus has been on Tymoshenko there is no focus on Yushchenko and Our Ukraine. a party that has been demoralized and discredited. Will it service not they are not in office?
    • The long road ahead04:12 17.02.10
    • I fully agree. Yushchenko betrayed all those who supported his election. Yushenko betrayed Yulia and Moroz

He betrayed the orange revolution and now he has betrayed Ukraine.

His demise and removal from office will be a starting point for rebuilding.

      Opportunity lost

Five years wasted, Decades to reconstruct.
