Vynnyky mayor faces 5 to 10 years in jail sentence for bribery
Lviv oblast prosecutors have charged Teodor Hudzyak, the mayor of Vynnyky, a suburb of Lviv, with taking bribes, ZIK reports Feb. 12.According to the Lviv oblast prosecutor’s office press secretary Oksana Petriv, prosecutors have enough evidence to charge the official with bribery.
Mayor Hudzyak will be put in a remand prison pending trial.
Feb. 10, the police detained Mayor Hudzyak and one of the Vynnyky deputies when they were accepting a bribe amounting to several tens of thousands of dollars for allocating a 0.7-hectare land site.
If convicted, the mayor will spend between 5 and 10 years in jail, with his property confiscated.
