According to Lutsenko, Yushchenko and Yanukovych have teamed up to demoralize patriotic democratic voters, especially in Western Ukraine. Each of them has its own role to play. “I would like to appeal to my fellow countrymen [Lutsenko hails from Western Ukraine] to beef up their electoral enthusiasm and optimism. Well aware of some slips made by Yulia Tymoshenko, we must still rally around her because she is the only one who can prevent the comeback of anti-Ukrainian forces,” the minister said.

Lutsenko praised Tymoshenko for being the only candidate who advocates the rule of law and completion of investigations of thousands of cases shelved by the Prosecutor General’s Office. She is the only one who opposes the entry of Ukraine in the Russia-dominated Single Economic Space and other imperial projects. “I am convinced Tymoshenko is the only politician who can keep the doors on Europe and freedom open for Ukraine,” he said.

Regrettably, Lutsenko continued, our expectations that all future Ukraine presidents will be patriots failed due to betrayals, mistakes and inefficiency of our rulers, making it possible for anti-Ukrainian forces to stage a comeback. “It all happened primarily due to the inaction of the incumbent president in fighting crime and corruption and due to his mistakes in appointing the present prosecutor general,” the minister stressed.

Lutsenko said he doesn’t view Yulia Tymoshgenko as a weak woman striving to win the highest office. “I have never seen a more hard-working and demanding boss in my life,” the minister noted.

Addressing voters, Lutsenko said, “You should vote for the only person who can defeat Yanukovych. Otherwise, all our aspirations will not come true.”
