Commission to tell Rada that Ukrainians are misinformed about Yushchenko poisoning
The ad hoc Rada commission to investigate the circumstances of Pres Yushchenko poisoning has come up with its report, Komersant-Ukrayina says. The text of the report is kept secret at the request of the commission head Volodymyr Sivkovych (Regions), but some details have been leaked to the media.
The bottom line of the report is that the Prosecutor General’s Office is deliberately trying to lead Ukrainians into believing that Yushchenko’s poisoning was orchestrated by his enemies.
Commission members were engaged in debates as to who was trying to mislead the country, the PGO or the PGO’s team investigating Yushchenko’s poisoning and headed by Halyna Klymovych.
According to Komersant-Ukrayina, the commission is going to recommend to urgently rotate the investigating team and open criminal cases against its members for falsifying the results of the investigation.
Another commission’s recommendation is to take biological samples from Pres Yushchenko for another examination at the Medved Institute of Ecology and Toxicology.
“Please, do not show the commission report to anybody, I don’t want it to appear prematurely in the media,” Sivkovych is reported as having said. “Otherwise, the report may never find its way on the Rada agenda,” he warned.
The Yushchenko poisoning commission was set up on March 31. Not all its members were present at its final session on Nov. 20, notably, Gen. Hennady Moskal, the head of Crimean police, who called Sivkovych to tell he agrees with all the commission findings and conclusions.
