Ukrainians in the east and west are eager to change the regime and their life for the better, Viktor Yanukovych told journalists in Kyiv Oct. 15, a ZIK correspondent reports.Yanukovych said Ukrainians in 2004 voted with their hearts, not heads. They voted for a better life with their hearts. Yanukovych will fulfill these wishes of Ukrainians. He promised to publicize his plan for uniting Ukraine when showcasing his election program on Oct. 23.

The real test is the divisions withi8n the so called "democratic alliance" with Our Ukraine standing up to four candidates each seeking their share of the same slice of the pie, each competing against each other. This gives Yulia Tymoshenko an advantage under Ukraine's flawed two round first-past-the-post voting system. Only the two highest polling candidates progress to the second round of voting.
In 2004 the orange coalition's main advantage was the fact that they had a single candidate and were not divided.
Yushchenko is not in a winning position and he should bow out . any candidate that can not command 15-17% or more votes will not survive the first round and will lose their deposit.
