Danylyshyn unveils agenda for Tymoshenko November rendezvous with Putin

Economy Minister Bohdan Danylyshyn has told UP Sept. 22 that the premiers of Ukraine and Russia will discuss cooperation in machine-building and innovative sectors in the course of their meeting on Nov. 20 in Yalta at the summit of CIS premiers.

“I believe they will discuss cooperation in machine-building, aircraft, and ship-building sectors,” the minister said.

He stressed that Ukraine is highly interested in implementing innovation programs within the CIS.

“In fact, the program on innovation development of the CIS countries till 2020 which is being prepared was initiated by Ukraine, and we are eager to see it get off the ground,” Danylyshyn added.

Ukraine’s dialog with Russia will be based on the idea of effectively tapping innovative potentials of both countries and fostering links, he said. Originally, the agenda was to have been discussed by Putin and Tymoshenko in early October in Kharkiv. However, Premier Vladimir Putin decided to scrap his visit to Ukraine and rescheduled his meeting with Tymoshenko till the CIS November summit, citing fears of being accused of meddling with presidential elections in Ukraine.
