Yushchenko to contest in court presidential election date
Pres Yushchenko is likely to go to Constitutional Court to challenge VR’s decision to fix presidential election for Oct. 25, 2009, president’s representative in VR Maryna Stavnijchuk told journalists Apr. 1.She called VR’s decision unlawful and running counter to the Constitution.
Stavnijchuk stressed thatYushchenko’s tenure is 5 years as of the date of inauguration. She said she recommended the incumbent to go to court.
Yushchenko says the date of the presidential election must fall on Jan. 17, 2010.
