Calls for exhumation of Vyacheslav Chornovil’s body are provocations by Kendzior, says Chornovil’s son
Until I have evidence that the wounds of my father may have been caused by transportation of his body after the car crash or when his body was being removed from under the car wreckage, I will not sign an appeal for exhumation, PR lawmaker Taras Chornovil told ZIK March 30.“I will allow exhumation only if the information received by lawmakers Kendzior and Stoiko about the existence of a knuckle-duster [with which Chornovil was allegedly murdered when he survived the crash] from unknown sources is confirmed. However, the evidence of experts and witnesses says no one could have survived such a crash,” Taras Chornovil said.
According to Taras Chornovil, the calls for exhumation by Kendzior and Prosecutor General Medvedko were made in an openly provocative vein, indicating, Medvedko’s intention to close the criminal investigation.
“The fact is that investigators came across falsifications of the initial probe results, of testimonies and false testimonies,” Chornovil stressed.
“Now they say new evidence has emerged of wounds allegedly inflicted with a knuckle-duster to my father’s head after the crash. There is no proof the evidence is credible – only some dubious document,” the lawmaker goes on.
“I had a talk with a deputy prosecutor general, who told me there might be a need for exhumation. But I must be convinced that the wounds were not inflicted when my father was being removed from his car. Just recall how it was done: the truck [into which my father’s car crashed] had to be lifted with a crane before my father could have been rescued from his car. One can only imagine how the rescue operation could have damaged my father,” he said.
According to T. Chornovil, the prosecutors assured him that only after clarifying the circumstances of rescue will they request exhumation.
“They told me this on Thursday night. However, the first thing I heard on Friday morning was the prosecutors’ statement demanding exhumation,” the son of the Rukh leader added.
This statement is openly provocative, Taras Chornovil says. Incidentally, V. Chornovil’s wife, Atena Pashko, quickly reacted to the provocation saying she would never allow her husband’s exhumation, T. Chornovil stressed.
According to T. Chornovil, there may follow accusations by prosecutors of V. Chornovil’s family stalling the investigation. The prosecutors will say they are helpless and will quash the probe, he added.
“Some persons are very keen to quash the investigation. I am in favor of this assumption as the saga started after Kedzior’s statement. Where there is Kendzior, there are provocations,” Taras Chornovil summed up.
