Party of Regions begin talk of joining forces with BYUT
A parliamentary coalition should be created by PR and BYUT to complete the constitutional reform, an influential PR lawmaker, Andry Kliuev, PR Donetsk party organization website quotes as saying. The constitutional reform was started in Ukraine in 2004, but to implement it we need a constitutional majority of 300 and more votes in the legislature, Kliuev says.
“Only two political parties could garner the majority, the PR with 175 lawmakers and BYUT with 156. Therefore, to complete the reform, we should join forces with BYUT,” the PR lawmaker says.
The creation of such a coalition will also bring stability to Ukraine and allow to delineate checks and balances between the president and premier.
“It will put an end to situations when the incumbent abuses his authority and tramps on the premier’s turf and vice versa. Political stability will rein in Ukraine, and with it an economic stability,” Kliuev summed up.
