Regions won’t stop until they bring Bojko to heel - Liovochkin group
The conflict inside the Party of Regions involving defiant Bojko and Liovochkin and the party heavyweights will be settled by the time VR goes into its summer recess, a well-informed Ukrainian political expert, Mykhailo Pohrebinsky, said March 13, addressing a roundtable in Kyiv, Liga.net reports.Commenting on the problems facing PR, Pohrebinsky said there is no alternative to Viktor Yanukovych as a leader of the party.
“Meanwhile, there’s some infighting going on at present. It will be over when they manage to bring to heel the Bojko-Liovochkin group that is openly lobbying the interests of RosUkrEnergo and trying to impact the party’s agenda to suit their ends, the expert said.
“I guess, the only thing that prevents the group from being subdued totally is that is has some influence and is led by PR heavyweights Bojko and Liovochkin,” Pohrebinsky added.
“As the group is represented in VR by Bohoslovska and sometimes Herman, I get the impression that the group is beyond Yanukovych control at present,” he said. As the recession continues to be increasing eating out at the profits of PR major players, they will realize that the unity of the party is foremost. I guess the squabbles will end by the VR summer recess,” Pohrebinsky predicted.
