Shufrych’s advice to Tymoshenko: get rid of Yushchenko ASAP
Nestor Shufrych, a prominent Regions lawmaker, has called on BYUT to start collecting signatures in VR to create a commission to impeach Pres Yushchenko due to his refusal to dismiss Central bank governor.According to The Korrespondent report, Shufrych stressed that only by firing Governor Stelmakh can Ukraine’s financial market be stabilized.
“I believe that for the sake of saving the national economy and stabilize the banking and finance sectors and if Yushchenko flouts the VR 3rd demand to dismiss Stelmakh, the BYUT faction must start collecting signatures to create an investigation commission to impeach the incumbent,” the lawmaker said.
By refusing to collect signatures BYUT will demonstrate its reluctance to put things in order in Ukraine, he said.
“Failing this [collecting signatures], we will assume that, realizing that both Yushchenko and Tymoshenko have zero chances to remain in power, they are out to rob the country and Ukrainians,” the Regions lawmaker added.
Vouching every support from his party, Shufrych stressed the formation of an investigating commission will be an acid test for BYUT.
A month back, Yulia Tymoshenko said impeaching the president was inappropriate at the present stage and might destabilize the situation in Ukraine.
Recall that Verkhovna Rada passed the law on ad hoc investigating commissions on Jan. 15, 2009 opening the way to probes into Ukraine presidents’ actions leading to high treason and detailing the impeachment procedures.
Feb. 7, Pres Yushchenko vetoed the bill, adding his proposals. Speaker Lytvyn has already said the lawmakers should comply with Yushchenko’s proposals. Yushchenko deputy chief of staff has announced the incumbent will sign the bill into law if his proposals were adopted.
