Summing up 2008, forecasting for 2009: Kost Bondarenko, a political expert
The ZIK information agency has approached several leading politicians and experts to give their assessment of 2008 and forecasts for 2009. Next in line is political analyst Kost Bondarenko.Intrigue of 2008.
There was no political intrigue in 2008. There was a bitter confrontation with a lot of petty intrigues. We all realized that the president could not get rid of the premier and vice versa.
None of them has emerged as a clear winner. Consequently, there is chaos, economic recession and a cold civil war in Ukraine.
Winners and losers of 2008.
I see no winners, indeed. However, there are many losers: Yushchenko, Tymoshenko and Yanukovych. It’s no need to evaluate them separately – they form a bunch.
Trends for 2009
In 2009, all politicians will unite against all. There won’t be any stable political unions. The parties will engage in endless talks with other parties, threatening their rivals with probable unions with their rivals.
Although the 2009 does not allocate any funds for snap parliamentary or presidential elections, the elections may be held. The topic of snap elections has become a favorable scare among Ukrainian politicians.
