Snap elections to be replaced by referendum or round table, Kost Bondarenko says.

Snap parliamentary elections were meant to be a tool, not a goal. As it didn’t work, new tools will be searched to resolve the political crisis in Ukraine – like a referendum to change the constitution or a round table to work out new approaches, Kyiv-based Horshenin think tank director Kost Bondarenko tol ZIK Nov. 6.

Yushchenko has not given up the idea of holding snap elections, as he merely suspended his decree, Kost Bondarenko said.

“It is too early to say whether BYUT will agree to hold snap elections, as additional bargains have to be struck. Everything will be clear in December,” the expert noted.

That the idea of snap elections has been shelved does not mean that the rearrangement of political line-ups in VR is over – both processes take place in parallel. “The rearrangement continues, but I doubt that it will bring any results,” he added.
