Bush-Yushchenko epoch over. Obama-Tymoshenko epoch in, says V. Polokhalo
B. Obama will not intensify the stand-off involving USA, Ukraine and Russia, and Ukraine will never be used as a red cloth to wave it in front of the Moscow bull, Volodymyr Polokhalo from BYUT told in an interview with RosBalt. Obama will pursue a more flexible policy towards the Kremlin, although the rivalry between the two superpowers will remain tense, Polokhalo’s Nov. 6 press service release says.As stressed by V. Polokhalo, “President-elect Obama is a pragmatist supported by the majority of Americans. Yulia Tymoshenko is also supported by the majority of Ukrainians. Republicans were wary of Tymoshenko, but the win by Democrats gives hope that the US will soften its stand toward the premier.”
Following the end of the Bush epoch, NATO integration trends in Ukraine promoted by Pres Yushchenko will become weaker. As a new generation and liberal politician, B. Obama will prefer to deal with those Ukrainian politicians who are similar to him.
