$5 million in government funding to be received by Lviv for relief works after killer hurricane
The promise of financial aid was made by Premier Yulia Tymoshenko on her visit to the hurricane-stricken areas of Lviv oblast June 24.The amount was requested by Lviv oblast Governor Mykola Kmit for repairs and assistance to families affected by the hurricane. Farmers will additionally appeal for $3 millilion and military for $500,000 in help, the governor said.
At a meeting in Lviv oblast administration, the premier pledged financial aid as of June 25 and instructed the finance minister to the effect.
Yulia Tymoshenko supported a combined assistance program for the five hurricane-stricken oblasts, Lviv, Khmelnytsky, Chernivtsi, Ivano-Frankivsk and Ternopil. The premier praised effective work by Lviv local authorities. “I can see a committed team in operation,” she commented.
