Lviv Communists chieftain threatens Ukes with Russian nukes
June 17, Lviv Communists leader Oleksandr Kalyniuk gate-crashed on a forum of NATO ambassadors with faculty and students of Franko Lviv University. Without introducing himself, he tried to persuade NATO ambassadors that Ukraine does not see its future as a NATO member and Ukrainians are opposed to the entry. Switching to a more aggressive tone, he said that, if Ukraine joins the alliance, Russia will target its missiles at Ukraine. This threat angered the audience who jeered and booed, the ZIK correspondent reports. The Communist chieftain accused the president, premier and VR speaker of signing a letter requesting MAP without informing the Ukrainians. “The people of Ukraine are against such steps. One can hardly regard the letter as a democratic document. If only democratic countries are accepted by NATO, the alliance should react properly to such undemocratic steps,” he said.
The Lviv Communist assured that Russia has no hand in influencing any decisions made in Ukraine on NATO accession. But he warned that if Ukraine joins the alliance, Russia will have to target its missiles at Ukraine. “Will it help the security of Ukraine?” he questioned.
