Nationalists demand dismantlement of monument to Unknown soldier in Sudova Vyshnia, Lviv oblast
Mostyska rayon council deputy Roman Vaskiv, Rukh, demands that the monument to Unknown soldier in the center of Sudova Vyshnia be pulled down, ZIK reports May 29. - However, Mostyska rayov council deputy Roman Bishko denied any such motion was tabled in the Mostyska council. He said the motion was allegedly tabled in the Sudova Vyshnia council.According to the ZIK correspondent, Roman Vaskiv published his demand in the Mostyska-based The Our Land newspaper.
In particular, Roman Vaskiv writes: “The authorities are silent. Meanwhile, the symbols of former empire stand on the squares in independent democratic country. We in the Mostyska rayon have our share of the monuments to the Soviet occupation. The Rukh and Congress of Ukrainian Nationalists as well as residents of Sudova Vyshnia demand tha the authorities remove the monument in Sudova Vyshnia and install a cross in its stead.”

May 27, the session of the Lviv oblast council endorsed a petition to Pres Yushchenko calling on him to ban May 9 Victory Day.
