Russia eager to retain its base in Sevastopol after 2017
Russia has not officially raised the issue of continued use of Sevastopol by its Black Sea Fleet. “We have never rejected that we would like to stay in Sevastopol after 2017,” The Ukrayinska Pravda quotes Russia ambassador Vladimir Dorohin as saying.Dorohin says the issue should be raised when the time is ripe, UP continues.
“We have never denied that we would like to stay in Sevastopol after 2017,” the Russian diplomat says, adding the BSF has been deployed in Crimea for 225 years now.

Pres Yushchenko instructed to prepare a bill terminating in 2017 the Ukrainian-Russian agreement on the stay of BSF in Crimea.
