Yury Lutsenko should hang his spurs, following his defeat in Kyiv mayoral election, Kost Bondarenko says
“Speaking about the results of the elections in Kyiv, we can see that the popularity of pro-presidential Our Ukraine and People’s Self-Defense dropped significantly. We can see the emergence of a new political party, United Center, which will take over from OU as Yushchenko’s support party. The elections signify the beginning of an eclipse of PS-D head Yury Lutsenko,” Kyiv-based political expert Kost Bondarenko opined, speaking to ZIK May 26.The May 25 snap elections are manifestation of a crisis involving traditional political brands. This could be the last elections where winners included well-known political parties,” K. Bondarenko said.
Kyiv council and mayoral elections will have no impact on Verkhovna Rada performance. The stand-off between Yushchenko and Tymoshenko will continue, the expert noted.
Commenting on the prospects of joining NUNS by other democratic parties, Bondarenko said,” It proves again that Ukraine’s democratic parties unite only 5 minutes before trouble strikes.”
