Lviv residents outraged by Mayor Sadovyj giving finger to them

Recall that on Apr. 18, activists of the Samozakhist (Self-Protection) NGO set up 14 tents outside the mayor’s office demanding his resignation or appropriate work for the benefit of Lviv. By the evening the number of protesters grew to 300 as they learned about the authorities’ plans to dismantle the tent village. Some time before, Halytsky rayon court bailiffs came to protesters, demanding to stop the action. However, they didn’t give a court order to protesters. Notwithstanding, Lviv residents stood by their right to protest and continued the action. It was at this moment that Mayor Sadovyj was leaving the building.
“Sadovyj must have picked the obscene gesture from low-quality American films. I hope, this time Pres Yushchenko will react in a proper way to such indiscreet behavior when he comes to Lviv Apr. 22. So that Mayor Sadovyj does not get away with it, we will hold a rally and sign a petition. We will give Yushchenko the petition and the video showing how Sadovyj was giving the finger to residents,” Samozakhyst head Roman Liubytsky said.
To avert any provocations, protesters took a decision to hold round the clock patrols around the tent village.
