SBU nets 16 spies in Chernivtsi oblast in 2007
Ukraine Security Service (SBU) branch in the Chernivtsi oblast forestalled 20 cases of anti-state activities. In 16 cases, SBU stopped the illegal release of information which is property of the state. In 19 more cases, similar activities were forestalled. As a result, 1 foreigner was banned entry in Ukraine and 16 extradited, SBU press service told ZIK. -In 4 cases, channels of illegal migration operated by foreigners were exposed and 20 illegal migrants arrested in the oblast. In another case, SBU pulled the plug on 3 channels of illegal migration, arresting 10 organizers.
In a related move, SBU opened 7 investigations for illegal possession of firearms, confiscating 4 guns, over 2.6 kg of explosives and 1 grenade.
