Mykhailo Syrota: “There’s a whore-house in Odesa with 3 and 6-year old children. How can a deputy without immunity expose it?”
“There’s a whore-house in Odesa where 3 to 6-year old kids are used as prostitutes. Officially, it is called the Zhemchuzhyna orphanage and in which 60 boys and girls live. They are regularly raped by adult clients. Who provides a cover for it? - The law-enforcement agencies. I have to do something about it. A have a 6-year old grandson, and when I think that my grandson can be one of them, I can kill the criminals with my bare hands. Now they tell me that vice is easier to be dealt with when my deputy immunity from prosecution is lifted. But a lawmaker must be protected against coercion and harassment from anyone, law-enforcement including,” Mykhailo Syrota of Lytvyn bloc and leader of the Labor party of Ukraine, said in his March 25 press conference in Lviv held at the ZIK information agency. -In his opinion, if the immunity is lifted, deputies will not be able to stand by the interests of the people. “If you begin to oppose criminals, you will be destroyed, to say the least,” Syrota said.
“There’s a clichй calling, ”let’s harmonize deputy immunity with European standards.” One cannot argue with it. But the deputy immunity is present in Europe even more than in Ukraine. For instance, a deputy in Slovakia cannot be arrested until his death. To prosecute a Swedish deputy, 5/6th of the legislature support is needed. In civilized countries, it is the parliament that curbs corruption in state power,” the lawmaker noted.

i did not ask for your opinion, nor do I want it. Clearly you missed the point of my last two postings or you wouldn't just be continuing to whine about the mean people who don't like you. If you have no meaningful, on-topic commentary to add, then stop typing. I will not allow you to pull me into these stupid games and will not respond to your postings further unless they refer only to the topic at hand which, in this case, is child rape & prostitution within Ukraine orphanages. May I suggest you find a different hobby that doesn't include trying to turn every discussion into your own personal soapbox of venom?
Of course, the orphan-whorehouse story that prompted all of this conversation is horrific, but I'm referring to the disgracefully childish postings written as supposed "comments" on the story.
How infantile and petty do people have to be to put their own personal problems with each other on display like this. Worse still, to undermine and pollute such important information as that provided by Mr. Syrota with such sorry behavior serves only to make everyone involved in trying to get the important message of Human Rights abuses out look like two year old morons.
Please, stop making the rest of us look bad, keep your schoolyard games to yourselves, and leave the grownups to try to help raise awareness of the problems in Ukraine's adoption system.
Come on folks - let's all put on our big boy pants and get back to the business at hand.
Nestor, you started your comments by mentioning "there was a couple of self appointed Human Rights Activists/foreign expats...".
You wrote those words in such a way that it sounded like "self-apponted Human Rights Activists" belong on a par with Jeffrey Dahmer or Charles Manson. Speaking only for myself, I'd have to say that if more people stepped outside of their own petty needs and wants for a while and appointed themselves as "Human Rights Activists", we'd live in a much nicer world and you and I would have far fewer social problems to talk about.
