Foreign drivers have to pay bribes to go along Kyiv-Yahodyn highway
A Rivne oblast council lawmaker Hryhory Mynych announced at the council’s session that the Kyiv-Yahodyn road stretch near Rivne is in dilapidated condition, with No Transit signs making it almost impossible for truck drivers from Western Europe to get to the Rokitnivsky glass plant and other regional companies. Those who risk to go along the highway are pulled over by unidentified persons who demand bribes for letting the drivers continue their way, the lawmaker told ZIK March 18. -Head of Rivne oblast road department Anatoly Yukhymenko explains the ban of transit by the fact that a road repair company from Zhytomyr failed to repair two bridges.Rivne lawmakers have passed a petition to the ministry of transport to allocate funding for the completion of repairs on this stretch of the road.
