“Lviv mayoral officials stonewall FC’s payments for electricity arrears. Meanwhile, electricity utility company has threatened to cut off supplies. If it delivers on its threat, the Karpaty stadium will not pass muster by the Ukrainian Football Union, and the team may be suspended from the national tournament. Karpaty FC is ready to settle the debt any time” FC deputy general manager says.Karpaty FC cannot transfer debt money because there is no contract between the club and the city on leasing the stadium. “We have repeatedly asked the city authorities to sign the lease contract, but they invariably refused. In doing so, the city authorities have blatantly violated last year’s agreement on the lease of the stadium,” Karpaty FC deputy general manager Ihor Dedyshyn says.
Karpaty FC has fully met its obligations arising from the agreement and implemented renovation projects worth $ 1.4 million to make the stadium meet the UFU guidelines, I. Dedyshyn confirmed.
“This kind of unproductive attitude taken by the city authorities may have a detrimental effect on the FC as UFU has requested that the Lviv FC submit a lease contract on the stadium. Without such document, Karpaty FC faces suspension from the national championship.
According to Ihor Dedyshyn, his club will settle the electricity debt as soon as the lease contract is signed.
