Ambassador Tailor puts Pres Putin at ease
“The deployment of foreign military bases on Ukraine’s territory is forbidden by the Ukrainian constitution. I do not see any reasons for concern by Russia Pres Putin,” US Ambassadot to Ukraine William Taylor said Feb. 21, answering a question from a Lviv Land Forces Institute cadet who claimed Putin has grounds to state that Russian missiles may be retargeted at Ukraine. -“NATO approves all its decisions by a consensus, that is, by a unanimous vote. If any NATO member is opposed to a specific decision, it will not be passed. Put differently, if Ukraine becomes a NATO member, it can veto the deployment by any other NATO member of its military bases. Consequently, I see no reasons for concern about Russian missiles being aimed at Ukraine,” William Taylor stressed.
