Party of Regions to lift its blockade of Verkhovna Rada Feb. 5, Taras Chornovil says
According to preliminary reports, Party of Regions will lift its blockade in VR. We realize that VR must work and are ready to lift the blockade. However, the final decision will be taken by PR faction before VR session opens, PR lawmaker Taras Chornovil told the ZIK correspondent Feb. 4. -PR will put on hold its demand regarding the letter by the president, premier and VR speaker requesting MAP for Ukraine and the demand for Interior Minister Lutsenko resignation – expecting reciprocal concessions from the ruling coalition.
Such concessions, according to Chornovil, can be to revoke the letter which, in accordance with the constitution, could have been signed only by the premier. Incidentally, Chornovil says, this is not the best time to apply for MAP as there is a high probability that NATO will cold-shoulder Ukraine at its summit in Bucharest.

The fact that the USA unilaterally seeks to establish missile bases on European soil without the consent or agreement of NATO members as a whole demonstrates the level of contempt that the US has for NATO. NATO itself is in need of reform. Europe should create a truly European Security Organisation independent from the United States domination. Then and only then should Ukraine consider joining a security alliance.
