Drohobych bore bits plant close to closure. Employees complain to Premier Tymoshenko and are set to picket oblast governor’s office
Deputy general director of the Drohobych plant of bore bits Leonid Myshchatyn has appealed to the Drohobych city council to take urgent steps to prevent the plant’s closure. The plant gets its inputs from abroad. At present, the cash-strapped plant needs Hr 2.5 million for the customs clearance of inputs, the ZIK correspondent Jan. 30 report says.Incidentally, the government owes the plant Hr 2 million in VAT arrears. The sum is sufficient to sort out the inputs problem.
“We have sent letters to Premier Yulia Tymoshenko, head of the customs service Valery Khoroshkovsky and Lviv Oblast governor Petro Olijnyk. Unless customs clearance of the inputs is not completed soon, the plant employees will be forced to begin a strike at the oblast administration. In this case, the plan’s closure is imminent,” the deputy general manager warned.
