Nestle Ukraine sells its crackers plant in Stary Yarychiv (Lviv oblast) to Volyn investor

Under the deal, MLS is to continue production at its present level for 2 more years (salt and sweet crackers, ordinary and chocolate biscuits) under Svitoch and Nestle brands. “Onions crackers will stay for the future,” Hennady Radchenko assured.

There were several bidders for Nestle’s Stary Yavoriv plant, its representative says. The main Nestle’s condition for selling was that a new owner had to guarantee to retain the same number of jobs (at 250), work conditions and social protection. MLS has plans to expand production in Stary Yarychiv by switching to new technologies, Radchenko added.
 “We had a meeting with Lviv Oblast Governor Olijnyk and head of Stary Yarychiv town council. They both know about the forthcoming sale and approve of it,” he added.
Nestle Ukrayina decided to sell part of the plant because they want to concentrate on chocolate and chocolate goods production, Hennady Radchenko informed.

The biscuits plant in Stary Yarychiv was founded in 1985. In 1998, the plant became Nestle S.A. property when the Swiss company acquired a controlling stake in Svitoch.

The MLS Ltd. is a newcomer on the confectionery markets of Ukraine. However, the company has experienced managers who know well the confectionery business. MLS pledged to modernize the plant and open its managerial office in Stary Yarychiv.
