Party of Regions and Socialists deputies support declaring 2008 the year of Stepan Bandera

The deputies also petitioned Pres Yushchenko to give Stepan Bandera the Hero of Ukraine medal on the occasion of his 100th birthday anniversary.
Interestingly, in the oblast council the motion to declare 2008 the year of S. Bandera was only 2 votes short of approval. Chernivtsi oblast lawmakers will again address the motion at the council’s next session.
