Our raid on State Environmental Inspection office in Lviv was absolutely legal, SBU says
“We acted in the Lviv State Environmental Inspection on a court ruling and strictly under the law. An investigation is now under way,” ZIK was told by the Lviv oblast SBU press service Jan. 25.At 12.15 on Jan. 25, a group of six persons raided the office of the Lviv SEI. Three of them wore masks and carried automatic rifles. They broke into the chief’s office forcing out the door when they were told that the SEI chief was out.
In 10 minutes SEI chief Stepan Stolyarsky appeared on the scene of the incident. As soon as he saw what was going on, he had a heart attack. His staff called an ambulance which took the chief to the hospital. He was escorted to the hospital by two of the attackers.
In another scenario aired by SEI staff, when S. Stolyarsky appeared, SBU operatives tried to drag him into his office. The official resisted, complaining of a heart attack.
As the SEI chief was leaving in an ambulance, he told journalists that the incident has a political edge and that certain influential persons wanted to dismiss him.
According to the SEI staff, one of the attackers introduced himself as a state security agent. Hitherto, SEI had never been the focus of SBU attention, one of its staff, Vasyl Stryzhak, said.
