If Lviv airport does not become communal property, Mayor Sadovyj will appeal to prosecution
It is frustrating to see that officials openly disregard Pres Yushchenko’s decree making the Lviv airport communal property. If they continue to disregard the decree, I will complain to the prosecution, Lviv Mayor Andrij Sadovyj said in a briefing, commenting on Jan. 23 statement by the airport’s general director Oleksandr Zahreva and State Aviation Service representative Anatoly Kolisnyk.Comment by the ZIK information agency
As reported earlier by ZIK, Lviv airport manager Oleksandr Zahreva declared Jan. 23 that the airport must continue as state property. The manager pointed out that it is the only state-owned airport in Ukraine, and is not plagued by court suits and other claims. Zahreva said that Hr 353 million in funding have been received this year for major reconstruction of the airport. Currently, the project to extend the runway is being prepared with the help of foreign experts, with the Lviv city council allocating a 60-hectare land site for the purpose. However, the State Aviation Service representative Anatoly Kolisnyk, addressing a session of the oblast state administration, said the airport cannot be transferred to communal property because such transfer will violate the law.
