American John Wood to ask Ukraine’s First Lady to help enact legislation facilitating import of modern medical equipment
Several containers with state-of-the-art medical equipment earmarked for Ukraine and bought by the World Educational Medical Fund are currently stuck in the United States because of unfavorable Ukrainian customs procedures, John Wood told ZIK in Rivne Jan. 23.John Wood has been cooperating with the Amosov clinic for 14 years and knows well the qualifications of Ukrainian surgeons. If Ukrainians had the same modern medical equipment the American doctors have, there would not be the need to take Ukrainians for treatment abroad.
John Wood says he knows Kateryna Yushchenko well. In response to the first lady requests US surgeons have given surgical treatment to several Ukrainian children. The surgeries cost several hundred thousands dollars, with the American side footing the bill. Now John Wood wants to approach Kateryna Yushchenko to initiate changes in the Ukrainian customs laws to facilitate the import of modern medical equipment and implement several joint projects.
